The aftermath of major disasters around the globe goes on for months and months after the news and media attention has departed. After unexpected disaster strikes everyday life, the survivors and  the community with help from the emergency services set out with one aim: rebuilding from zero.How does a society find new ways to create the structures to live? What is the impact of global assistance in post-emergency situations and what are the political implications? People who lived through "the great earthquake" or "the big flood" will tell these stories to their grandchildren years from now. FROM ZERO tells those stories as they happen, allowing us to follow them with a simple click and interact with the available contents through documentary web series on a single global platform.

The FROM ZERO web platform will produce and host character-based internet documentary series following everyday life in emergency areas around the world.  Each series will be produced on location following key characters until their situation improves or changes. “Webisodes” will be uploaded directly from the production location allowing users to be at protagonists’ side as events unfold form their home computer. On the platform users will be able to follow series uploaded from different locations, explore the locations with our characters, mix episodes from different locations to create new and intriguing topic-based series of their own, upload contents to contribute to re-create the lost memory of destroyed places, create messages for the protagonists as well as influence the contents of the webisodes. Specific educational pages and paths on the platform will be accessible to schools and institutions to interact with the web contents for educational purposes as well.
