In April 2009, central Italy was hit by a severe earthquake causing the destruction of the city of L'Aquila. 60,000 citizens lost their homes and were relocated to tent camps. The Italian government launched a shelter programme and promised a fast rebuilding programme. Films were made of those living in the emergency camps, and then as they left the camps to rebuild their lives, for the website FromZero.tv. Now nearly 2 years has passed and L'Aquila has faded from the news, as has the 'fast rebuilding plan'. The city is a ghost town, the Civil Guard has left, handing all the problems back to the major - no structure, no finance and a shattered community.
This one hour film will combine previously shot footage with new footage of the main protagonists - Nicoletta, Mario, Saleh, Rosa and Antonello. What happened to them ? They have become citizens left alone to face rebuilding their lives, abandoned by the government and highly politicised.
